You're never too old for a good story!
To America's Parents & Grandparents,
(and all those who influence the lives of our nation's children)
Homemakers for America invites you to join our national campaign, "Restoring the Heart of America, One Story at a Time", featuring a Family Book-a-Month for America challenge. For the next year, we want to challenge families all over America to join our book a month club and commit to reading these stories of freedom in your home.
The stories of what made America the light and hope of the world are disappearing from many of our classrooms, but in our homes, they can live on forever inspiring generations of young patriots—one story at a time.
Each month participating families will receive a new volume of stories from the Freedom Series of the Forgotten Classics Family Library. These inspiring stories are compiled from literature written for young people in the late 1800's and early 1900's; a golden era when authors wrote to instill patriotism, inspire faith, and promote strong character.
As you read these stories of faith, hope, and patriotism, we encourage you to take advantage the teaching moments that will come along the way. Should you find a point of history you disagree with, use it as an opportunity to teach your children that many people have differences of opinion—good people. Help them understand it isn't always easy to determine absolute facts in history. Show them how to weigh evidence and draw out valuable lessons from the stories you read together. Home is the best place to learn these things; and the time you spend together as a family sharing these stories, will tie you together like a beautiful quilt and create priceless memories that will last a lifetime.
We believe in the power of united hearts, and hearts are united through our common stories. It is often through small and simple means that great things are accomplished—we should never underestimate the power of stories.
We hope you will join us and help us spread the spirit of patriotism in the hearts of America's families by taking the Book-a-Month challenge. With your help we can restore the heart of America—one story at a time.
